Embedded sprint
2–4 weeks, focused. One clear outcome — a feature, integration or fix — shipped and handed over. Daily async updates, demo at the end of the sprint.
Hire John Hay — owner-operator of AXOmega, with 20+ years hands-on building digital systems and Grad. Dip. Software Development @ MIT (NZ) — as an experienced professional contractor. Auckland-based, working with teams worldwide, entirely online. Happy to sign NDAs and be part of the company for the engagement.
Most contracting arrangements give you capacity. This gives you experienced professional judgment plus capacity — the same person who scopes AXOmega’s websites, e-commerce, custom software, automation and integrations, now embedded in your team.
John has built digital systems businesses run on for over two decades — from early web apps and online stores to internal tools, integrations and AI-assisted workflows. That breadth means he can pick up your stack quickly, map how the business actually operates, and ship in small useful stages without needing a handover between “frontend”, “backend” and “integration” people.
You get direct access, no account layer, and plain-English advice about what’s worth building, buying or leaving alone — the same honesty you’d get on a scoped AXOmega project, but inside your cadence and tooling.

British national, fluent in English (native) — residing in Auckland, New Zealand for 20+ years
John Hay is the owner-operator behind AXOmega — the same person who scopes, builds, and connects AXOmega’s websites, e-commerce, custom software, automation and integrations. Now available as an embedded contractor who joins your Git, Slack and tools and ships in small, useful stages.
That breadth matters on a contracting engagement: most work crosses “website / software / systems” boundaries. John maps how the business actually operates first, then picks up your stack — Astro, Next/React, e-commerce, APIs and automation — without handing you between specialists.
You contract B2B with AXOMEGA LTD (verifiable on the NZ Companies Register) for services under a short SOW. I work under your direction within that scope — stand-ups, Slack, Git — as part of the company for the engagement.
It stays a services relationship: no PAYE, no benefits administration, no employment relationship. You get flexibility; I remain responsible for delivery within the agreed stages. If your legal team requires PAYE/EOR, tell me before scoping — I’ll be direct about fit.
Where you already have an MSA, I’ll sign it. Otherwise AXOmega’s MSA + SOW covers milestones, IP assignment on payment, liability cap and NZ law — the same clear paper we use for scoped project work. Nothing hidden, nothing one-sided.
All models are scoped after a free 15-minute chat. You choose the intensity; I commit to the outcome for that stage. No lock-in beyond the agreed milestone.
2–4 weeks, focused. One clear outcome — a feature, integration or fix — shipped and handed over. Daily async updates, demo at the end of the sprint.
Ongoing, part-time. I join your backlog and cadence for weeks to months, with agreed capacity and priorities each week.
A few days to a week. Health-check, code/process review, or rescue of a stuck build — with a written map and options, not just opinions.
All models: your Git, your SaaS, your VPN. I work inside your tooling, with clean commits and a short handover note each stage.
Contracting with a delivery bar — not just hours. Each milestone is defined, reviewable and yours to keep.
No surprises. Same paper we use for scoped AXOmega project work, adapted for embedded contracting.
Based in Auckland (NZST), working with teams worldwide, entirely online. I overlap with Australian east coast mornings (2–3 hours), schedule overlap with the US/UK, and keep the rest async with clear updates — the same rhythm AXOmega uses for remote delivery.
Minimum engagement is typically one sprint (1–2 weeks) or one fractional week (2–3 days). Notice for extension, pause or wrap is one week or the end of the current milestone, whichever is sooner — no long lock-in. Capacity is reserved once the SOW and first Stripe milestone are accepted.
Communication: Slack / Teams, GitHub / GitLab, Notion / Linear — your stack. Daily async note, demos at each milestone, and a short handover note so the team can continue without me.
No public rate card that pretends every embedding is the same. After a free 15-minute chat about stack, outcome and dates, you get an SOW with day / week / month options and what each milestone covers.
Quoted in US dollars by default (keeps it consistent worldwide). Tell me before an invoice if you’d prefer NZD, AUD, CAD or GBP — I’ll present that invoice at the Stripe FX rate at invoice time. You can choose per invoice.
Each milestone is a separate Stripe-hosted invoice — due on receipt unless the SOW says NET 7 — with acceptance criteria. You pay for the stage, we do the work for that stage. Taxes are a separate line (NZ GST 15%, AU 10%, CA GST/HST, UK VAT 20%, US sales tax as applicable). See Billing for Stripe, card and tax detail, and Terms for deposits vs milestones and refund principles (amounts attributable to work performed may be retained; unearned balance is refunded).
No PAYE, no benefits admin — contractor via AXOMEGA LTD. We never ask for card details by email — the Stripe link is the only place to enter payment details.
Yes — that’s the point of this page. I’ll join as an embedded contractor, sign your Mutual NDA, work inside your Git/Slack/tools, attend stand-ups, and be part of the team for the engagement. The relationship stays B2B via AXOMEGA LTD, not employment.
Contractor. You engage AXOMEGA LTD (NZ) for services under an SOW/MSA. I work under your direction within the agreed scope. No PAYE, no employee benefits. If your legal team requires PAYE or an EOR, tell me before scoping — I’ll be direct about fit.
Happily — before the scoping chat if you prefer. Send your Mutual NDA or I can provide AXOmega’s. Either way, the SOW will also cover confidentiality and IP assignment on payment for work in the SOW.
Scoped after a 15-minute chat. You’ll get day / week / month milestone options with what each covers. Invoiced via Stripe, USD base with per-invoice local currency choice at Stripe FX. Each invoice maps to a stage with acceptance criteria — no large upfront.
Web (Astro, Next.js, React), e-commerce, custom business software, integrations, automation & AI. I map your existing stack first and build where it earns its keep — see Services for the full picture.
Send a message via Contact — mention contracting, the stack, the outcome you want, and the dates. We have a 15-minute chat, I send an SOW with scope, rate and milestones, and we start once the SOW and first Stripe milestone are accepted.
AXOmega, led by John Hay, is Auckland-based with clients worldwide, building and connecting the websites, e-commerce platforms, software and business systems growing companies run on, with AI woven directly into delivery rather than bolted on afterward.
John worked for me as an Integration Developer about a decade ago; the operator he’s become since is the real story. He represents a new breed of tech supplier, and his grasp of the fundamentals, at the stage AXOmega is at, is ahead of plenty of far more established firms.
Tell us the stack, the outcome, and the dates — we’ll say yes or no plainly and send an SOW. NDAs welcome.
Working with clients worldwide — everything over the internet.
